(Toronto, ON- August 15th,2025) Today, alt/hip-hop hellraisers Joey Valence & Brae release their new album HYPERYOUTH. Careening from Y2K club-rap, golden age RnB which is as uplifting as it is introspective, to warped hip-hop that hits like a molotov cocktail, the duo unleash their livewire energy upon what has proven to be their most ambitious work to date. The vision? To make you dance like no one’s watching.
Joey Valence & Brae will return to the UK with a six-date tour across major strongholds including London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on November 4th. After a guerilla pop-up show in the city with a packed-out crowd queuing around the block to hear the album before anyone else, replicating the energy with a free show in NYC’s Central Park on August 20th to celebrate the album release, the demand for the duo’s particular magic has never been greater.
Sharing their vision for the album, Joey Valence & Brae say: “HYPERYOUTH is an album that forces you to dance. It was born from our experience going out to clubs and looking around in astonishment that nobody else shared the same excitement and expression for music and dancing that we did. Why is everyone so afraid to dance? Are you too cool? Are you protecting an ego? Are you afraid of what people will think of you? We made this album as a pure form of love for dancing, club music and genuine self-expression.”
The album follows their crowd-igniting single ‘SEE U DANCE’ featuring cult pop icon Rebecca Black, a love letter to the Timabaland golden age which premiered on BBC Radio 1 with Jack Saunders. Speaking on the track, she shares: “‘See U Dance’ felt like a smash to me on first listen. I love JVB and was honored to put my spin on the hook and verse. Summer ain’t over yet, it’s just begun yallllll. Hope to get to crowd surf to this ASAP!”
‘WASSUP’ marked a suckerpunch return with their hero and fellow agent of hip-hop chaos, JPEGMAFIA, and the party continued with ‘HYPERYOUTH’ (complete with a reference to brostep-era Skrillex), and the breezier ‘LIVE RIGHT’ which carries the baton of evolution and eclecticism for their sound, with a coming-of-age theme that will make you count your blessings for your best friends. The duo dive head-first into neo-funk with “BILLIE JEAN” and Justin Timberlake steez with ‘BUST DOWN’ and a dynamite verse from rapper TiaCorine. Their lyrics have never been more whipsmart and playful, with stand-out one liners including: “Sydney Sweeny called me and I hanged up!”
In the four years since joining forces, Joey Valence & Brae have cemented themselves as a must-see live act and bonafide recording artists, with viral one-off singles and full-length projects like 2023’s critically acclaimed debut PUNK TACTICS (its title track was just Certified RIAA Gold) and 2024’s NO HANDS and NO HANDS (Deluxe Edition) which featured Danny Brown, Z-Trip, Ayesha Erotica and more.
In between those drops, they’ve collaborated with an eclectic mix of friends and fans including IDK, Pendulum, 6ix, ACRAZE and Apashe. With each release, JVB grow bolder, braver and louder, turning up the volume on their swag as they skillfully traverse a smash and grab collision of 90s hip-hop, drum ‘n’ bass and decades-spanning pop culture references while remaining undeniably themselves. They’re carving out their own niche with a signature sound that’s equal parts nostalgic yet futuristic, authentic and infectious while still on a mission to one day open a Cheesecake Factory in their hometown.
