(August 1, 2025) Today, singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Eddie Benjamin shares “DRIVING,” a soulful new song that basks in an open-hearted yet deceptively breezy energy. Listen to the single HERE and watch the equally dreamy video HERE.
With hopeful, self-reflective lyrics and an upbeat rhythm, “DRIVING” further exemplifies Eddie’s dynamic musicianship as he once again writes, plays every instrument, and produces the track, with co-production from Alex Salibian (Harry Styles). Opening with gorgeous guitar and Eddie’s silken vocals—“Don’t have to say too much, I’ll turn my thinking off”—the warm, easy vibe builds to a reassuring chorus: “Shake off that feelin’, just keep it on dreamin’ my love / It’s gonna be okay, if you keep on… / Just keep on drivin’, just keep it all movin’.”
The dreamy, subtly trippy music video follows Eddie through surreal beachside scenes, blurring reality and fantasy, past and present. Directed by Adrian Villagomez (The Kid LAROI, Denzel Curry), the video was notably shot on film.
“DRIVING” is taken from Eddie’s upcoming full-length album, a coming-of-age set exploring relationships, loss, grief, and the need for human connection. It marks his third solo single of 2025, following “RUN!”—a strikingly urgent R&B cut that captures the sudden unraveling of an intense bond between two lovers—and “MANIAC”—a piano-pounding rock/soul/jazz/pop whirlwind of a lead single that dances on the edge of sonic and emotional chaos.
The new single arrives on the heels of his extensive work across Justin Bieber’s SWAG, where he co-wrote and co-produced 13 tracks, including the Billboard Hot 100 #2 single “DAISIES.” Additionally, he contributed background vocals on “WAY IT IS” featuring Gunna, and made his Hot 100 debut as a featured artist on “SWAG” alongside Cash Cobain.
Up next, Eddie is set to join Shawn Mendes on tour across North America. Kicking off September 25 in Boston, MA at TD Garden, the tour will come to New York at Forrest Hills Stadium on October 3 before concluding at the iconic Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 17. See the full routing below. The tour notably reunites Eddie with Shawn after the two collaborated across the entirety of Shawn’s most recent self-titled album.
All of this activity has only upped the anticipation for fans awaiting Eddie’s first new body of work since 2023’s Weatherman EP, which not only included the titular hit, “Weatherman” — dubbed one of the “best songs of the year” by TIME — but also Alessia Cara duet “Only You,” which the duo brought to Jimmy Kimmel Live!. That set was a culmination following his striking 2021 debut EP, Emotional, which also garnered widespread praise. Along the way, he has collaborated both on record and in the studio with names such as Sia, WILLOW, Raye, Meghan Trainor, Earth Wind & Fire, and more.
With “DRIVING,” Eddie pulls us deeper into his immersive new musical era. Stay tuned for more.
