“BLADE RUNNER BLACK OUT 2022,” AN ANIME SHORT DIRECTED BY SHINICHIRÔ WATANABE, FOR “BLADE RUNNER 2049” TO BE RELEASED GLOBALLY ON SEPTEMBER 26 WITH MUSIC BY FLYING LOTUS, FEATURING AN ORIGINAL SONG FROM LAUREN DAIGLE

LOS ANGELES, CA, SEPTEMBER 26, 2017 – GRAMMY® nominee Flying Lotus (aka Steven Ellison) has scored the soundtrack and GRAMMY® nominee Lauren Daigle has composed an original song for Alcon Entertainment’s upcoming BLADE RUNNER BLACK OUT 2022, an anime short from acclaimed director Shinichirô Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop). It was announced by Alcon co-founders and co-CEO’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.

The anime short is one of three in-world content pieces to debut before the upcoming October 6 release of Blade Runner 2049, joining the prequels 2036: Nexus Dawn and 2049: Nowhere to Run from director Luke Scott (Morgan).

Watanabe specifically requested Flying Lotus to compose the score for BLACK OUT 2022, which is heavily influenced by jazz and hip-hop. The music team at Alcon Sleeping Giant (ASG), the music partnership of Alcon Entertainment and Sleeping Giant Media, worked closely with Flying Lotus to create an original score that blends his unique style with the iconic sound of the Blade Runner franchise.

Additionally, ASG brought in popular singer-songwriter Lauren Daigle to compose the end title song “Almost Human”, which she co-wrote with Kayla Morrison, Gerald Trottman, Ghian Wright and Michael Hodges, who also produced the song.

ASG’s Michael Hodges, Ashley Culp and Kayla Morrison served as Executive Music Producers on BLACK OUT 2022. In addition to Flying Lotus, the BLACK OUT 2022 score also features additional music by Gerald Trottman, Kuedo and Miguel Atwood-Ferguson.

The Blade Runner 2049 original motion picture soundtrack will be released by Alcon Sleeping Giant (ASG) Records exclusively distributed by Epic Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment. 2049 gold foil, numbered, special edition copies of the soundtrack are available for pre-sale on September 26.   D2C PRE-SALE LINK: http://smarturl.it/BladeRunner2049/officialstore
