“A vibrant debut…an instantly catchy chorus — the vocals sound refined enough to be taken for an industry mainstay” – Billboard

“A bubbling swaying number…the 19-year-old artist displays a mature grasp and sense of self-awareness when it comes to relationships and her own emotions” – Consequence of Sound

“‘Drugs’ is her best yet, and, on it, the Phoenix native exudes a rad and rebellious vibe”  Hillydilly

(March 8, 2019 – New York, NY) – After receiving critical acclaim for a series of buzzing singles, UPSAHL unveils her highly anticipated debut EP, Hindsight 20/20 via Arista Records today.

She preceded its arrival with her rising single “Drugs. Not only is it nearing 600K global streams, but it also continues to garner critical applause. Earmilk described “Drugs” as “mesmerizing and cheeky” while Hillydilly called it “her best yet”. Outside of the intoxicating lead-off, the five-track EP illuminates her alternative sass, soul, and spirit.

The opening track on the EP, “All My Friends Are Rich” swings from sunny, fifties-inspired keys towards a slick and sardonic chant, detailing the downsides of kicking it with big spenders. Boisterous brass and horns underscore the jazz-y big band bounce of “Stressed, which hinges on confessions a la, “Overthink like it’s my job to lose my mind. Elsewhere, SMARTY” steps on unwanted flowers from the wrong dude as it plugs the EP title, “Hindsight 20/20. Everything builds towards the lovelorn closer “Fine” as her voice sails over stark piano into the comforting croon, “I hope you’re fine. See the full tracklisting below.

Detailing the story behind Hindsight 20/20, UPSAHL commented, “I wrote this EP over the course of 2018 and after I moved from Phoenix to LA. I was writing songs every day and learning to be alone while all of my friends went to college and were doing college things. It was my first time away from home. I was discovering so much about myself and my relationships with people in my life that my days writing songs in the studio turned into sort of therapy sessions. I would just spill out whatever was on my mind on any given day. Hindsight 20/20 represents my reflection on this past year and all the experiences I had.”

Following her recently lauded Popscene and School Night shows, UPSAHL hit the road with Max Frost opening his North American Tour. See the full confirmed itinerary below. Next, she’ll be headed to the UK for a series of festivals in May.

When she was 17, UPSAHL started releasing songs, which gained much-deserved recognition throughout the Phoenix music scene. A graduate of the Arizona School for the Arts, a performing arts middle/high school, UPSAHL continued to hone her craft, while being classically trained on piano, guitar and choir every day. UPSAHL went on to ignite a groundswell of fan adoration and tastemaker praise by way of numerous indie pop gems. “Can You Hear Me Now” achieved palpable viral buzz followed by “Kiss Me Now” and “Rough. Her enigmatic, endearing, and entrancing style garnered widespread critical acclaim from Nylon, Consequence of Sound, Indie Shuffle, Ones To Watch, The Line of Best Fit, and more. Signing to Arista, her rise to pop ubiquity (on her own terms) has only just begun.
