“No, I’m Not Crying” is more than just an album—it’s a season of my life, captured in sound. Every song is a snapshot of a moment, a feeling, or a lesson from the past three years. I’ve always found it easier to write through the heavier emotions, and after a year of pouring my heart into this record, it became my way of processing them. — Alicia Moffet

Toronto, May 30th 2025 — Marking a bold and self-assured artistic turning point, No, I’m Not Crying is Alicia Moffet’s powerful new album and a defining chapter in her career— ushering in a new era of creative freedom. For this project, the singer-songwriter teamed up with Cult Nation — the creative collective behind talents such as Charlotte Cardin and Lubalin — and collaborated with Jason Brando, Sam Avant, and Harper Gordon to craft the sonic universe of No, I’m Not Crying, where she pushes her artistic boundaries and solidifies a stronger-than-ever identity.

Breaking free from convention across ten inspired tracks, No, I’m Not Crying reveals an artist unafraid to explore the full spectrum of her emotions. At times intimate, at times razor-sharp, Alicia Moffet balances raw vulnerability with fierce confidence, delivering everything from melancholic ballads to hard-hitting beats, from gut-wrenching anthems to songs of empowerment. “After over a year of writing and refining, Jay and Sam pushed me to dig deeper, break past my limits, and bring out the best versions of these songs—and of myself. It was such a transformative, therapeutic journey for me and for the first time, I feel completely aligned with who I am as an artist. More than anything, I hope these songs remind people how powerful it is to embrace their most authentic selves and the relief that comes with truly expressing their emotions,” Alicia shares.

THE SONG “FAKE”: A PILLAR OF THE ALBUM

A standout from the album, the song Fake was co-written by Alicia Moffet, Sam Avant, Marc-André Gilbert, Jason Brando, Harper Gordon, and Shankar Ravindran. The song was born from a deep dive Alicia took on the popular discussion platform Reddit. “I made the terrible decision to search my own name—something I strongly advise against!” she laughs.

The next day in the studio, she shared the experience with her collaborators, sparking a conversation about this bizarre need to constantly seek approval online from people who often don’t know us at all. “They asked me what was my worst finding and I just laughed and said : Apparently, I’m a fake a** b*tch – they couldn’t believe it. It’s truly that conversation that ignited the idea of Fake. From then on, the song just took on a life of its own. It quickly became this unapologetic, self-depricating bop,” she recalls.

Imaginary people, dictate how I feel

Tell me to be real

But I don’t know what that means

Imaginary people, I exist to please ya

Never wanna deceive ya, your love is all I need
