May 16, 2025 – Today, Canadian songstress and feminist anthem-maker extraordinaire Devon Cole shares her reflective and relatable “Sorry Mom” out now via Arista Records. The fun and lighthearted track offers an apology to her mom for the rough teenage years and questionable choices made during the growing pains of self-discovery we all go through paired with a thank you for never loving her less for it.

On her love-filled apology, Devon shares, “’Sorry Mom’ is a cheeky confession and heartfelt love letter rolled into one song. I was challenging to raise – rebellious, defiant, stubborn, unruly. An absolute teenaged diva. But I’ve grown up to be a woman who loves all of those things about me, even if it caused my mom some serious grief in the past. We’re both better for it now – those years gave us some great dinner time stories for years to come. I know there’s a boatload of mischievous souls out there who will relate to this song. Equal parts apology and anthem, ‘Sorry Mom’ is for the rebels who turned out alright (eventually).”
A fitting theme for the month of Mother’s Day, Devon is grateful for her mom never leaving her side after the collective experience of looking back at past life choices or how one acted as a teenager comes to the forefront of the mind. Devon is known for her genre-bending relatable self-reflections and “Sorry Mom” adds another angle to the emotionally sharp, conversationally frank, and frequently funny list. That list includes Devon’s 2024 EP, Two Shades Blonder which embodies that multifacetedness with songs like the dance-anthem “Sugar Daddy,” and the soulful “Good Guy” and featured themes that ranged from, in Devon’s words, “empowerment and bad-bitchery to messier things like the thrill of the chase and feeling insecure.” Friendship anthem “I Got You” broke through into the top 10 at Top 40 and Hot AC in Canada, and earned praise from outlets including Prelude Press, Ones To Watch, and Melodic Mag, who likened it to “stepping into pure sunshine.” Meanwhile, her catalog has surpassed 218 million streams.
Late last year, Devon celebrated the EP’s release with her debut headline U.S. tour — an intimate series of performances that included exclusive merch and an onsite hairdresser. Recently, she wrapped a headlining Canadian run and now prepares to join Shania Twain: Live In Concert at the Saddledome in Calgary on July 5th and in Toronto on July 15th. Stay tuned as she continues to shine in 2025.
