Toronto, ON — October 24th, 2025 – South London singer-songwriter Skye Newman today releases SE9 Part 1, the hotly anticipated first chapter of her deeply personal musical journey, alongside the video for its powerful opening track, FU & UF.
The visual, directed by Rohan Dill (Dave, Jim Legxacy), sees Skye and her friends reclaim traditionally male-dominated spaces, in a bold statement of self-assurance. From football pitches to boxing rings, the video plays on one of the song’s most memorable lines, “You wanted a woman and I wasn’t feminine enough” bringing to life the song’s central message about defiance, identity and strength in advocating for yourself.
“I put FU & UF first because it’s good to remind whoever’s listening to be strong and to stand your ground,” says Skye. “My main message is don’t change who you are for anyone. Be true to yourself. It took me a while to realise this, but I am now living for me. And that’s the most important kind of living!”
Named after the postcode of her childhood home in South East London, SE9 Part 1 captures both the grit and poetry of Skye’s journey so far. Across six tracks – FU & UF, Hairdresser, My Addiction, Out Out, Family Matters and Smoke Rings – Skye charts a coming-of-age story defined by reflection and resilience.
The release follows a record-breaking year that has seen Skye emerge as one of the UK’s most exciting new voices – becoming the first UK female solo artist in over a decade to earn two Top 20 singles and surpass 117 million global streams.
Breakout hits Hairdresser and Family Matters became anthems of self-expression, with Family Matters (certified Gold) peaking at No. 5 and spending seven weeks in the UK Top 10 and 22 weeks in the Top 10, while Hairdresser (certified Silver) held a 14-week run in the Top 40.
